Unfortunately I don't believe there was an EQ unit available for the later model 9000 radios (with detachable keypad). Earlier models came with a graphic equalizer in turbo models that was actually pretty neat - lots of dancing lights, etc. - but in reality did very little to alter or improve the sound quality. Next generation Clarion radios (the ones with a seperate amp, but still no detachable keypad) did have an improved EQ unit, and even a combination single CD, and LCD based EQ unit.
I believe that so long as you have a CSE model (assuming you're in the United States) - you will already have the prestige stereo - with the Harmon Kardon amp and speakers. There were no other enahncements that you could get from the factory to improve the audio.
One thing you MIGHT want to consider is retaining the single CD in the front, and adding a CD Changer in the trunk. Therefor having both a changer and single CD capability. You will need the Clarion automatic switch box which fits in behind the radio and forms a "Y" allowing you to hookup the C-bus cables from both the single CD and CD changer together.
It is SAAB p/n: 02 49 664 or Clarion p/n: RBC-037-200 (C-BUS line signal switching box) - the dealer MSRP price is around $80.
I don't blame you for not wanting to muck everything up with aftermarket stuff - especially if you have a "Final Generation" 9000.
