OHMIGOSH!!!!!
AWESOME!!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I loved my car before. Well, if there's a feeling higher than that, then I definitely have it now!
It took awhile installing the JT from turbo -> back due to scheduling differences between my wife and me (making me lose 1/2 Saturday, and full Sunday), as well as a misunderstanding on my part as to the orientation of the rear muffler, but I tackled it and completed it by myself laying on my back in my garage with my trusty cardboard (I can tell you where every oil stain comes from on that piece...). I used band clamps and muffler acoustic sealant on every joint/connection, and have zero leaks. I also had to lengthen the wire to re-install the 2nd O2 sensor (I used the holders under the passenger side where the brake and fuel lines travel through to hold the wire--there's an empty one there. I also used speaker wire that contains 4 separate wires within it for a nicer fit). I positioned the 2nd O2 sensor into the long, straight pipe, turning it up towards 1 o'clock to keep it away from any road-hazards. One other trick is to use one oem rubber hanger on one side of the DP/cat bracket, and to use a much longer one (aftermarket/universal, will need mods to make it fit) on the other side.
I also installed Superflex poly bushes on the 19mm rear sway bar, since I was back there anyway and the car was up on jackstands.
Today was my first day driving, and I almost passed my exit to go to work. Not that I would have cared--I wanted to keep driving!
The car was fast before, and is now a rocket. By the time I got to work (20 minute ride), my heart was still racing and my brain numb from the extra rush of adrenaline!
There is one curve on my commute (I drive on a parkway), that I tend to take "somewhat" beyond the "suggested" safe-speed to test the road-holding of the car. Today, the new bushes proved what they're meant to do--hold the rear-end in and level! I took that curve at lightning speed (faster than I ever have before), and the car negotiated it as if on auto-pilot. The body also did not lean as much as it did before, practically almost level.
I can definitely feel faster spool-up, and the extra sound coming from the turbo now is awe-inspiring. I have been following the posts about having to re-adjust the base boost after installing a bigger exhaust, but I do not feel any loss of it whatsoever. Maybe because it's an auto(?). But I will check it to make sure it is in specs.
I highly recommend these upgrades to everyone!!!!!
BIG, BIG thanks to Traffic Shark, BillJ, RedAero93, and BrianZ. Without their help, I'd probably be re-installing the stock system back to where it was before, and wouldn't have installed the bushes!
Now, I wait anxiously for my Stage 3 ECU upgrade from BSR, and wheel adapters to replace the 16" '98 "AERO" rims with my 5-lug 16" Borbet Type H's that have sat in my garage for over a year since taking them off of my '96 900S. Everything should be in within a week (I hope...).
