Gearbox lost 3rd & 4th!

It happened when I was driving hard up a fast hill, changing down to 4th, and accelerating. The turbo over boosted as it sometimes does, wasted the pressure and then back on with a thump, 3rd and 4th were gone, any ideas??? I was still able to drive the car using 1,2 and 5, and covered some 100 miles to get home. Now I ahev to fix it!!! Box has done 165,000, and the pinion bearings have been noisy for the last 10 months, but no increase in noise.... Local Saab Garage at that time, Yeovil, Somerset UK, said the box would probably run for a while with no harm. I assume the failure might not be related. My plan is to use anothe local Saab Specialist, A&D Motors, to remove the box and initiate investigations, but may have to resort to a s/h or recon box. Whatever it's going to be expensive.
Any thoughts on the over boost too, the APC solenoid was replaced a couple of years ago, but I also think the base boost is too high? I guess I could search the board, but I've just got home, and am relaxing with some wine, so sleep soon. I'll check back tomorrow for any advice etc...
Regards Colin
