Do a search on this BB and you'll get lots of rants (including mine) about TCS. Unless you live in a very wintery region and deem the TCS a "must-have" to your driving, don't keep a TCS-equipped 9K if you don't have to.

I also have '93 CSET auto. During first 9 mths of ownership since last fall I also had regular TCS related limp-homes, more precisely it's the ETS (electronic throttle system) that was causing the limps. One common source is the electronic throttle position sensor (TPS) in the electronic. throttle body housing (ETB). On 5-spds the TPS is replaceable for about US$75. On autos it's not ... and if the ETB is diagnosed by TechII as the culprit you're likely to have to replace the ETB at about US$700. I did, and it was no joy.

On other hand, for either 5-spd/auto you can check to see the the vacuum bleeder valve (mounted on false firewall on passenger side near upper motor mount) is faulty. This can be diagnosed via either TechII or mechanically. Again this is cheap part to replace for < US$50.

Barring all these, the ETS is a complex beast and is integrated with the ABS. So other possible but not as likely causes could be the wheel speed sensors, corroded wirings/contacts, TCS computer etc. These can take quite a bit of diagnosis time ($$) and no guarantee of limp-home cures.

I'd suggest you get a competent dealer or indy with TechII to pull the fault codes out first, determine what the culprit(s) is and go from there. If you have to replace any TCS/ETS components start with the bleeder valve (both 1-way and 2-way valves) and all inter-connecting hoses into it as this will be your easiest and cheapest route.

Good luck.
