It sounds like you turned off the engine both times, as soon as the oil press light came on.
I assume that you added oil because when you checked it, your level was low. A bad oil pump would not cause a loss of oil. Do you have a massive oil leak, as well? If you have no oil loss, it could be a bad pump. Teeth from the balance shaft chain main sprocket can come off and get lodged in the pump. Gunk can foul the oil pickup screen down in the oil pan, as well.
