The light comes on because there is not much water in the tank (!) and your acceleration sloshes around what little is left, so the light flashes.
Most likely, one of the little black T-shaped non-return valves has failed and your water is leaking out before it reaches the nozzles. The valves do this a lot. Why not just fill the tank up, stand the car on a dry bit of ground, open the hood and operate the switch to see/listen where water comes out. It could be near the reservoir, in which case you will get wet feet, of it could be nearer the nozzles themselves. Or sometimes the pipe gets soft and falls off where it joins the reservoir – so just cut off half an inch and shove it back on. Luckily, your tank is a lot easier to see and fix than the later version.
The valves are really cheap so you can have a couple of spares – they are always failing.
