My saab 2.3 Turbo auto has just been into a specialist that was recommended to me with a TCS problem that has only evolved after leaving the car outside for 6 months. The TCS had never given me any problems before that, the Vacuum hoses looked tired/perished and the Kickdown Cable needed adjusting as I knew that before it went in and told the speiclaist to sort these out also. The prkblem was that when you started the car the car would be in limp home mode (TCS/CTRL light lit) and would idle roughly with it, one time in 20 though the car would start OK with no TCS/CTRL light and would drive absolutely 100% (I drove the 40 miles to the specialist with it like this, no faults lights at all) until you turned off the igniton whereby the TCS/CTRL light would return with the same symtons. The Specialist called me next day after car was taken in to say he put his Tech2 or ISAT on it (not sure what one) and it came up with 23 faults. He's quoted me a new Kickdown Motor ($1450) and he says he also would like to change the throttle housing with it ($1250) Does this sound right to you bearing in mind what I mentioned earlier. The car is 9 years old and if I can't get it sorted for much less that the money mentioned I will have to break it up unfortunately.
