Just compeleted the install of Nakamichi CD-45z.
Installaion fairly easy (alldata wiring diagram - thanks again T).
Couple of but connectors for the power antenna and amp remote plus 4 RCA plugs in place of the factory multipin connectors and voila, up and running. Since the UNIT is DIN it is almost a bolt-on application using supplied by Nak metal sleeve in place of SAABs.
Nakamichi's unit has a very simple, OEM look, far cry from the flashy looks of typical Japanese car stereos. Also, it does not have useless "features", it does not have time/phase correction, nor advanced DSP - just as I would expect from my home stereo.
Overall I am pleased by exchanging Radio/single CD combo for the Nak. Sonically it is far more acceptable than Clarion. And since the FM section sound much better I suspect typical for Nak attention to MUSICAL (not technological) detail to throughout the signal path, rather than mambo-jumbo 20-bit D/A converters that unit utilizes. Great to have good sound in a car. Too bad Nak filed for chapter 11....
World is run by MacDonald and Panasonic enthusiast....
BTW, Besides LEXUS, Nakamichi is OEM on most Suzuki cars...
Whyd did Saab chose Clarion?
