The console on a 9K is really two sections. One is the center of the dash and the other the floor unit. The floor unit is held in place by two torx screws with covers and two 10 mm head bolts. The screws are near the front edge on either side of the unit and the bolts are at the back on either side under the carpet. The seats must be moved forward to access them. You will also have to remove the shift cover and associated screws for both the manual and automatic. In addition, the swich block must be disconnected and the cover for the handbrake brush must be removed.
For the center dash section, I would try to work around it. If you take off the carpeted side covers, you can access nearly everything you need. The side covers are held on with two plastic push fastners at the bottom and a single screw at the front top. However, you may have to remove the under dash kick panels to pull them out properly.
