There's a '92 9000T CSE I might be able to get very cheaply that has a blown automatic transmission (I think the radiator leaked and mixed the fluids, getting corrosive anti-freeze into the tranny fluid and ruining the bands?). My plan would be to rebuild the auto-tranny myself (I've done lots of work on this level before). But I have a few questions that maybe some of you 9000 afficianados could help me with.

Firstly, the consensus seems to be that the 9000 auto-tranny's are a weakpoint. Why is this? What exactly is their flaw? Are there any upgrades available when rebuilding an auto trans, maybe from Eriksson or something?

Also, how integrated are the TCS and ETC systems into the automatic transmission control module? How would that affect a conversion from auto to manual, or from TCS to non-TCS?

And as for the TCS, is it possible to add a TCS off switch to the '92 automatics? Would I have to use a later TCS brain or ABS module or what?

Thanks a lot for any help on these subjects.
