First remove the grab handles. If yours has plugs above the driver's door be careful to remove the OUTER plugs to access the screws. Pulling them off directly as a unit will destroy them - although later models come with 4 grab handles anyway. I changed mine over when I did this for this very reason.
Next remove the dome light, uppper console cover, sun visors and clips (Yours has the contact on the clip if you have lighted visors. You can unplug them from the harness once you access the harness that runs over the upper console.) It is not necessary to remove the entire console.
Remove the A and C pillar covers. I did not remove the B pillar covers that house the front seat belts - just nudged the cover over one by flexing it downward slightly at the outer edge. You might be able to do the same thing without removing the A and C pillar covers, but mine was easier because I took them out to recover as well at the same time as the headliner.
Next remove the weather stripping from the tops of all four doors. It can hang down inside, but if you leave the doors open, disconnect the battery to minimize drain from the door safety lights.
The last fastners are one or two(depending on year)push-in oval clips on the rear close to the hatch. (These are somewhat hard to pull out. A small screw driver will be useful to depress the locking tabs. Alternatively, they are cheap (~$2) from SAAB so hank away.)
Once the clips are released, the headliner is free and is only supported by the upper console in the front - so be careful at this point. The head liner is VERY thin and relatively fragile - particularly if you have a sun or moon roof. The headliner slides backward and off of the console, so be prepared to have it supported when this occurs. Once free, the headliner easily come out of the car through the hatch.
