I was using regular without problems except for a light pinging or detonation such as on a uphill driveway before revs could come up (or sloppy footwork and I was just lugging the motor). According to recent Car and Driver article, use of regular should not be a problem as engine management systems adjust and the only net effect is dialed back power. Switched to premium over the last few tankfuls and the detonation noise went away, but ironically the car seems to get better gas mileage, by 2-3 mpg in highway settings. Anyone ever notice this?
