... standard struts. It's probably that I jump about a bit in the e-mail and I was talking to someone who had a bit of an idea how to do it already. You'd still have to remove the struts and compress the springs to get them off. Once you've done that, fitting the Konis is not complicated, really.
What makes you think you need new shocks (you mention new OEM shocks)? These generally last very well, unless they're leaking. Have you changed the control arm rear bushes yet? These don't last well at all and are the usual cause of sloppy handling that makes people want to renew their shocks. The OEM ones are very cheap (I got mine for £10 or $15 each), quite easy and quick to fit (1/2 hour each side) and have made an enormous difference to my '96 CSE (100K miles), which I am not modifying in any way. The shocks on that car are fine. People rave about how fitting poly bushes there make a huge difference to their handling, but they don't realise that new OEM bushes would be almost as good. It's not that the standard bushes are no good for handling, but that they don't last beyond about 60K miles.
