A couple of weeks ago, I decided to take advantage of my insurance company's full glass coverage--my '94 9KCSE's windshield was farily pitted and unsafe at night/sunset. I called up a local glass installer (Inspector's Auto Appearance, Flagstaff, AZ) and scheduled the install. 3 hrs later, I had my car back.

The first thing I noticed was a 1" gap in the molding along the bottom--I simply filled it with silicon caulk rather than go back and complain. A few days later, I took the car on a 1000 mile roadtrip. The molding started peeling up and flapping around at highway speed (I duct taped it down), and the corners starting howling and rattling.

As soon as I returned, I called Inspectors, explained the problem, and scheduled an appointment to have it fixed. I showed up (a week later!), they looked at it, and told me they'd have to reschedule me again b/c they needed to replace the molding. This time the agreed to do the procedure at my work place. 5 days later, they showed up at work to install the new molding--10 min into the job, they broke the windshield. Luckily, I had the option to park my car inside AND I had my road bike with me so I could bike the 15 miles back home. In my opinion, I went out of my way to accomodate their mistake! They told me they would be back the next morning with a new windshield. I continued to 'grin and bear it.'

The next morning, they install a new windshield and new molding. After a lot of grunting, they made the aftermarket molding work, but it still didn't look right. Again, there was a 1" gap in the molding--I had them fill it with caulk. I hope this install works. . . . .

Finally, to top things off, I found a bunch of glass shards all over my dash, rugs, and seat this morning--apparently from when the broke the windshield--I hadn't noticed the previous day. Of course, a couple of the shards scratched my leather seat. I called them up and told them: they offered to vacuum the car. I told them I can do the vacuuming and that I would never recommend their service to anyone. The guy didn't even apologize or try to reconcilliate the situation! Bad customer service. MAN that irks me. . . .

It's tough to find good service, sometimes. Be sure to compliment those businesses that go out of their way to make the customer happy, and heckle those who don't. Thanks for listening......
