Broken driveplate saga ended....success??

Several weeks ago my '88T Automatic broke its 3rd driveplate. My pleas for help ellicited sympathy but very little insight, so I was on my own. A friend who rebuilds transmissions suggested that the alignment between engine and transmission must be off. The other possibility was that I had been unlucky enough to get three defective driveplates in a row.
When I pulled the transmision I found one locating pin intact and the other sheared off! There seemed to be at least 2mm of misalignment. Everything else seemed fine. The car is back together and runs smoother than ever. We'll see how long it lasts!
This entire episode really sucked. I thought many times of calling the junkyard. The Haynes manual was invaluable but did lack torque values for key bolts. The starter was an absolute bear to get back in. However, it was satisfying to get it together and hear it purr once again.
The first time the thing broke it cost me about $400. The second time just the cost of the part, $180. This time. DIY, I spent about $40. $20 for a used driveplate on ebay, 4 quarts of fluid, and some locktite. And about 30 hours of torture and head scratching.
The ebay driveplate was from a '90 and did not have the three 1 1/2 circular cutouts that are a weak point.
