AC troubles...advice needed!

Hi All -
I've just recently got around to trying to fix my Air con (94 Aero). Last year it stopped blowing cold, so after checking the relays etc, i decided that this was due to the gas having all leaked out.
Yesterday i had the system refilled... well first it was checked, and sure enough it was empty. Then a vacuum pump was connected, this wouldn't pull a huge vac, so a small leak is in the system... at this point it was decided that we should put some gas in and home that this would lubricate the seals - fixing the leak. (then the system is to be flushed out and refilled)
Problem: with the gas in, the compressor clutch still failed to engage. There was no voltage at the compressor coming up from the low pressure switch.
I have checked the fuses, and swapped the relays (above/behind the fuses) but this has made no difference, so i am happy that these are all fine.
It seems that my next move is to get the Low Pressure switch replaced? (i guess i have to change the drier as well or can they be purchased separately?)… is it possible that this is now defunct having been sat without gas in for 6 months?... or have I missed some system resetting that’s needed?!
Many thanks for your advice/comments - Dave
