Mid 80's and up SAAB's are adaptive, they will run the best they can based on the octane rating of the fuel. They will adapt to you! Find the octane rating that gives you the best performance/mileage for your driving style. As to adatives, the major companies seem to keep the system running smother, but my biggest nightmare came from a tank at (not to name names)a small station in Northern California that had a Green and Yellow sign. Both my injected SAAB and Carburated truck developed problems within a week. 3 tanks from the station with the blue and white sign and several dollars in their additives cleaned it up.
The truck developed a white slime growing in the carb and the SAAB went through 3 filter changes. The green yellow sign was BP and the blue white was Chevron. All I'm saying was the station I hit with both vehicles had microbes growing in their fuel. Can you get a bad tank? YES.
