First of all you need to make sure you have completely relieved the pressure on the caliper. Open up that bleed screw! To make sure the piston is fully retracted carefully put a C-clamp on it an see if you can squeeze it in a bit further. Don't force anything. The pistons have a way of creeping out and a little bit of pressure is needed.
