When I did my headliner, I bought 3M 08090 because it was touted as the heavy duty adhesive. In fact, it is the one used by someone on Quasi's website who redid a 900 headliner. HOWEVER, on the can it says NOT to use it for light weight foam headliners. I found out why when I sprayed some on the headliner material - it is runny and soaks right through if applied too heavily or if you press down on the material before it is completely dry. I did use it with great success when I reuphostered my hatch cover with trunk liner carpet.
The glue to use for this application is 3M 08088. It is designed for headliner material and from experience is superior for this application.
