My thoughts regarding the flywheel:
Some time ago, the car made a terrible racket (clanging, banging, rattling) when I tried to start it. The starter was turning but it wasn't turning the engine over. I removed the starter and noted that the teeth were damaged. Being optimistic, I replaced only the starter, I did not look into the cavity to ascertain the condition of the flywheel (regret). Once the starter was replaced, I tried once again to start the car. The starter sounded much better, but... the engine did not turn over and there was some noise indicating that the starter teeth were contacting the flywheel teeth (just not enough to engage).
Is the Haynes manual thorough enough to guide me through this task?
