Hi, I posted below info earlier , but it is way down on the main page. I wanted to bump it to the top because I feel it is an interesting dilema. Please read Original Post at bottom (if you haven;t already) and then my follow up. What is going on here?? Thanks!

AC is working fine again. I looked under the hood, compressor appeared to be wired properly, and the belt was connected and all hoses were in fine shape.

At first, I had the same problem (no cold air.) But then about 1 minute into my drive, I heard a screeching noise for about 2 seconds. Then, all of asudden, AC worked beautifully again. No problems. I have since turned off-and-on the ignition 3 times and driven about 100 miles and have not had any probelms with the AC. And it has been HOT outside!

So, any ideas as to this mystery? Thanks to all for your help.

Last Spring, I had an indie Saab mechanic redo my enitre AC system: new condensor, used compressor, condensor line, reciever dryer, expansion valve, & belt.

It had been working great...no problems. The one issue recently was that I had him put in a new blower motor about three weeks ago.

Yesterday, AC was working great. Crisp, cold air. No issues.

Today, I turn on the car, and it only blows warm air. No Cooling at all.

What are the possibilities here? I guess it could be that the used compressor he put in died. BUT, would it just go 'all of a sudden' as I described below? Perfect cooling to absolute nothing in the span on one turn of the ignition?

Could the belt of gone? Could it be an electric issue? Could a hose of gone? Could something of been 'messed up' when he did the blower motor?

I am no 'do it yourself' guy unfortunetly. So, I will need to go to the Saab guy to have him look into it this week. I am just looking for your general thoughts on this. Could it be something simple, or will I need Major work?

FYI, its an 89 9000 and I am still on Freon.

Of course this happens the day before a hot, humid heat wave is about to hit.................. just my luck!
