Troubleshooting front end vibration (long).

Here's what I've done so far. First, I put the car up on a lift with the wheels free to turn. Then I cranked up the engine, put the car through the gears up to fourth gear speedo indicating 130-140 KPH (65-75MPH). It's around this speed is when I get the vibes. Sure enough, the car starts vibrating just like it's on the highway at around the same speed. It certainly feels like it's coming from the (front) wheels, so I remove the right one and repeat the speed test and vibrations remain. Put it back on and then I remove the left one, no change... it still vibrates. Now's the catch. I then remove both wheels and bring it back up to the same speed (130-140 KPH) and it still vibrates! Let me explain this vibration. The steering wheel shimmys enough to see it as well as feel it. The entire car vibrates. I look in the rear view mirror and see the hatchback shaking, the hood's doing the same it's very annoying. It feels like it's coming from the front end, I also feel it when I brake and new disc rotors/pads didn't help one bit. Niether did new wheel bearings, rear control arm bushings. I also observed the engine while I was standing right over it opening the throttle while the car was in gear and it appeared stable. Why would it continue to vibrate with no weight on wheels (possibly eliminating the tie rod ends etc...) and with no wheels at all. Why do I also feel it when I brake? What could be causing this annoying problem? Thanks in advance.
