Allan in March of 01 had this thread. I did a search for radio lights. This is what you do:
1) Buy two (2) Radio Shack micro lamps #272-092C for $1.57 w/ tax.
2) Remove radio and be sure to have your security code.
3) Remove face plate and on/off/volumn knob: there are clips on each side of the face plate.
4) Find the lamps. The LED screen is just below the cassette deck. Within the limits of the LED display there are two(2) small (micro) lamps inside a green rubber cover. You can see the top of the rubber, it looks like an o-ring from the top. You also may have a gooey black material over these lights at first, so just remove it. Just remember these lights are at the outside edges of the LCD screen (on the back side of course).
5) De-solder the lights. There are two (2) connections per light. I just used a pair of tweezers to pull up on the existing wires after the solder was fluid.
6) Pull out the existing lights with the tweezers. IMPORTANT: Grab both wires and gently pull up. You can twist also. The green rubber cover should come up. One of mine was molded/melted to the light and ended up being torn :(
7) Put the green rubber covers over the new lamps and reinstall. I used a little bit of solder to re-connect to the circuit board. Be carefull bending the wires down.
8) Re-connect radio
It is a pretty cool & fast repair as long as you don't rip the green rubber covers. Maybe clarion has a problem?????
