... worry about that automatic transmission. Look, there are times when I don't mince words, and this is one of them: You're nuts to add more horsepower to a Saab automatic. The automatic can't even handle 200 HP for 100 K miles, let alone 260 HP. Why do you think they limit the auto Aero's to 200 HP? Sorry, I don't mean to be ... um, whatever I'm being, but you're asking for trouble hopping up an automatic car.
As for the boost gauge, here's the deal: What matters is proper fuel delivery for the amount of air being delivered. That, and exhaust gas temperature, and I'm no expert on that. But the red on the gauge is calibrated for the stock Saab system. Even the stock Saab system will tolerate running mid-red, but it's not supposed to run there. If you can somehow force the stock system to run at the top of the red zone, you're really asking for trouble. But if the ECU reprogrammers know what they're doing, and if you increase the size of the exhaust to get the hot gasses out of there, then you can safely run on up into the red. The reprogramming outfit will say what base boost is allowable, and they will program for that. So just follow the manufacturer's recommendations, and you'll be fine.
The turbo is the last thing you need to worry about. Besides, it's cheap when compared to the engine or transmission.
