if not and it is the only set of switches not illuminated, then the light bulb in the switch assembly probably is burnt out. There is only one bulb in that assembly for your car model year. However, it's a bit of a chore to take the whole thing out of the center console. I think it has two tabs in front and two at the back and maybe a couple on the sides.
Maybe someone has a better way of taking it out and would post. I would suggest using a couple of flat blade screw drivers and put some masking tape on them then just pry the front and then the back to take it out.
Once the thing is out, look at the back, there is a recessed hole in the middle of the switch. If you look carefully inside the hole (shine some light into it) you should see a white thing with a screw slot. That little white thing is the back of a light bulb mount. Get a small screw driver and unscrew the thingy half a turn or so, it should come right out. You can then check that if it is burnt out.
If you need a replacement bulb, you can get one at your dealer at the usual high price something on the order $5(??). Or you call up some Saabnet sponsors for less or if you don't mind spending the time, go to Radio Shack and get some 12V 60mA (??) wire-lead bulbs I forgot the catalog number, try searching using "Radio Shack" and "bulb" at this site and I am sure you get many hits. If you ask me, I would just get one from the dealer or a Saabnet sponsor and forget about getting a bare bulb and solder it back on the original mount. Unless of course, there are other bulbs that need replacing, such as those in your window switches.
This got to be the most long-winded piece of instruction on how to change a light bulb....:-O.
Good luck.
