92 9000T: I have a similar problem that I am troubleshooting. Here is my situation and what I have done:
ABS light continually on, very hard pedal due to no pressure in the system.
Hot lead to 87 operates the pump (as well as mechanically operating the electromagnet on the relay), but the pump is designed to operate for only 10-15 seconds at a time.
So I earthed a switch to 85: Lead from (-) terminal on battery goes in cabin to a rocker switch then back to ABS contol box to terminal 85, which operates the pump. For "normal" operation, start the car, ABS light comes on, flip the switch (pump operates), Brake Fluid light comes on. 10 seconds later, the Brake Fluid light goes off, quickly followed by the ABS light, I then flip the rocker back turning off the pump. Brakes work normally and safely (after testing in deserted parking lot). After some braking, ABS light comes on again, repeat procedure.
I suspect either a bad pressure switch, brake fluid sensor or bad ground, but I have not had enough time to properly sort it all out.
FYI, dealer is asking $400+ for the ABS pressure switch.
Please let me know how your troubleshooting and repair goes.
