Air escaping from cylinder head!? (87 t)

further on my post before... my car makes a sound like air is escaping from the back of the cylinder head. If you carefully put your hand back there you can feel it under the intake manifold. When you accelerate the engine the sound is rythmic with the piston in cylinder 1. The strange thing is, although I should be loosing lots of compression the engine runs about as well as it always did. I just want the noise gone!! I thought it was the intake manifold gasket but I replaced it and it still makes the noise Is there anything else that it could possibly be?
