DIY breakout box (pic)........

Well, I just discovered that one doesn't have to buy an $1100
breakout box from Saab in order to bleed the brakes, if the hydraulic
unit has been changed. This does work and it's not so 'invasive' that
the wires need much repair (a piece of black electrical tape) .
For anyone that didn't attempt this procedure because they didn't
have the breakout box, this contraption will do the job. It's an easy
matter removing the top cover for the ABS ECU connector. Once
the proper wires are located, they're peirced with the probes mounted
at the end of each wire (the Yankee in me refused to throw away
those pins that hold new shirts in their packaging - I knew they'd
come in handy some day!). The three-wire piece is what I used to
energize the switch on the master and pump relays. The four-wire
piece was used to open the outlet valves on the ABS distribution
box. To be sure that all the pins were making contact with the center
wire, I made sure I had continuity with the proper pin location on
the female end of the ABS ECU connector. Oh, the pump worked
fine and I could hear it change in frequency when the valves were
opened.
