Hi,
First, if the pump gears indeed need to be replaced then you don't need to remove the T cover, the pump is behind the camshaft pulley ON the cover NOT underneath it. Second, Although I may not be the best person to comment on this because I lost a SAAB to the same "desease" caused by a similar repair.. I do remember when I was going thu this people on the board sugested on PRIMING the PUMP. This basicly means using something like grease or Vasoline on the gears to make the surfaces sealed. If you like, look at my earlier posts (this would be a while ago) for the comments that others on this board responded with.

PS. I did a head gasket and Timing chain (remove the T-cover_
