My Solution... Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] (#32) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Justin VanAbrahams) on Thu, 5 Sep 2002 19:01:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Ya'll may recall (heh, that rhymes) that I recently drilled out the factory airbox on my '88 9kt. After doing so, I left the lower splash guard off the car to see how it ran... It ran great, with substantially reduced spool-up time on my 260,000 mile old turbo. Fearing road debris would ultimately get sucked into the intake or water splashed into it, however, I replaced the splash guard.
I was not happy with the result. Although better than before, the intake *really* liked the extra air coming from directly outside, rather than from the the corner light.
My solution to the problem, for now, is here... Hopefully the mesh will be an adequate deterrant against water, and it should keep out most debris. I think I may add a small piece of plastic as a scoop to help force air into the fender, but that may have unfortunate aerodynamic consequences... :)
