The Viggen is a hair faster than the Aero, but not noticeably. What you do notice is that the Viggen seems much faster. It has a lot more drama when you are on the throttle. It squats down in back and then you need two hands on the wheel from then on. The older 9000 areo's are more fun that way than the 9-5's, the turbos spool up differently on the older models-not as fast as the 9-5. Both are great cars that can only really be appreciated at higher speeds.
As for the S-4, I think the answer is they have a little taller gear, with a little higher RPM redline. Plus they are able to get more power to the ground with the AWD set up. You could never get a true, full throttle launch in FWD Saab. I can't hammer it till part way through 2nd or it just peels out.
