The biggest thing to look for is leaking clutch fluid. That's the primary sign of hydraulic problems. Yaofeng's flashlight idea is great! If you decide to change the fluid in the hydraulic system (a good idea) You will need to force it through the system with higher than atmospheric pressure applied to the yellow fluid reservoir. One common method is to cut up a bicycle or motorcycle innertube and inflate it with one of the cut ends clamped over the reservoir (think of a condom).

nother way to do it is to make a pressure bleeder out of a garden sprayer... this is more involved but easier to use.

Hydraulic fluid should be flushed regularly (I've heard 2 years or 30 k miles) How many miles are on your Saab?
