First the fuel system question. it is a 'new to me' '95 CS. The fuel gage has been odd since I bought it. It would not read low at all. even when empty (16.7 gal to fill) it showed 1/2 tank!. I have taken it out and inspected it. The sender works fine. Nice resistance change from full to empty. The float is not in the plane of teh bottom of the tank when empty. I replace it and the gage reads fine for a while. We drive it on less than 1/2 tank on the highway for about 1.5 hr. We get there very low on fuel, but it is fine. I'll get gas in the morning. I try to start it to leave and get some gas and it will not start. crank but no start. Gas gage reads 3/4 tank, now! Ok, I'll put a bit of gas in it. I try to open the gas cap and it is a huge whoosh almost sucking my hand in! Now what? Well, it now starts but the gage is still messed up. It goes up to full when I refill the tank. I get home and put a Saab gas cap with a checkvalve which allows air through on vacuum but not pressure. Gas gage has been fine for the past week. What would fail which would not allow the tank to bring air in to fill the volume as the fuel is removed? The running problem is a high idle. It idles (with ACC 'off' - no A/C compressor) at 1000-1100 rpm. If I pull off the line to the ELCD solenoid, the idle goes high. If I plug the port, it stays at 1100rpm (it seems as though the ELCD works properly to me). I cannot find any vacuum leak. Hooter fine, check valve new/fine, hose to MAP sensor fine, hose to hooter - new silicone. Throttle plate is firmly against the stop. If I turn on the A/C, it drops to 900 and is smooth. It regulates to 1100 with the radiator fan cycle as well. Any ideas on what I can check? It has an ECU and BCV off of a CSE (FPT) and it worked fine for a while. You don't notice high idle in the 9k as they are so quiet and smooth compared to my C900! I'll try reset and recheck the vacuum lines tonight.
