And they're right ... if you get both front and rear 1" bars, the car comes out very close to neutral. If you installed just a big rear bar, I imagine it would oversteer like crazy. With 1" bars front and rear, you eliminate a lot of body roll. Drastically reducing the body roll translates into a reduction of basic understeer, and that actually makes oversteer available. The net effect is that you can then drive the car precisely through a corner, and balance underteer versus oversteer with the throttle. With the stock setup, I always felt that you controlled the amount of understeer with the throttle - understeer rules, and you control it with throttle. With the larger SAS bars, the increased flatness makes oversteer available, so now instead of just controlling basic understeer, you can control understeer versus oversteer, and that means that you can drive a true line through a corner. I'm not talking about a car that understeers first, then oversteers after you've managed the understeer - that's not neutral, that's management of extremes. I'm talking about a car that gives you the ability to manage the one versus the other throughout the experience of the corner, by way of the throttle. I never thought a front wheel drive car could handle this way, but the SAS bars really do give precise control. The Saab will never give the same sort of rear end hang-out experience as a good rear wheel drive car will, but the SAS bars give me more neutral handling than I've ever experienced before. Forget the tower brace; install both front and rear SAS bars, in my opinion.
