The easiest way to tell if you broke the timing chain is to pull the DIS modual out of the valve cover and remove the valve cover. Once you pull off the valve cover you will see both camshafts. On the passenger side of the car you will see the two cam gears. The timing chain should be very visible across the gears. If the chain has broken it will be down in the front cover. If in fact the timing chain has broken then valve damage is very much a reallity. I am a certified auto technician and I had a customer give me a 9000 with a broken timing chain. This car broke the chain while driving @ highway speeds. The damage was broken timing chain, broken crank sprocket, bent exhaust valves, broken chain guide, worn chain guides, cracked valve cover I have $700 - $800 in parts alone to repair this car. I spent this much money to repair the car because of the retail value of the car. Once I finish putting the car back together I will sell it. Good luck
