... no need to remove the seats. Shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes.

Move both front seats as far forward as they will go. Rest the armrest approximately where it will go, and note where the frame meets the carpet. Make a cut in the carpet with a craft knife approximately the same length as the width of the frame upright (not the width of the foot - doesn't need to be that big)and at the position where you can see that the frame will be protruding through the carpet (ie not the full distance between the 'feet' of the frame, but the distance between the uprights immediately above the feet where the frame narrows).

Initially, make this cut in one side only, and if you are going to make it strictly longer than necessary (for easier acces to the car floor) make sure you cut the extra towards the front of the car, rather than towards the back, as it is easier to hide.

You will then have to cut through the felt soundproofing and insulation (pretty thick). Make the cut into a T shape for easier access (the leg of the T away from the centre, so 'down' the side of the centre tunnel carpet.

You should be able to reach in and feel / see the two ready drilled (square...) holes. By repositioning the rest, you will be able to much more accurately mark where the T cut for the other side should be.

Assuming you have the funny square nuts and bolts already, you just need to twist in the nuts into the hole - the little side tabs on the nuts protrude outwards - a bit fiddly. Then bolt it in - as tight as you can, as prolonged use will make it wobbly - two bolts on each side. You should have enough access through the carpet cuts to get a spanner in there.

I then simply put some duck tape on the reverse of the carpet to hide the T cuts, and it has been invisible in 2 years now.

Let us know how you get on.
