Transmission noise - is it a worry or not?

It is a '95 CS 90kmi (lpt recently converted to fpt). It shifts smoothly. It is very quiet at constant throttle and even on hard accel I do not hear any tranny noise. When I release the throttle from highway speed, I hear a high pitched whine. It is only audible after a couple of seconds when I have released the throttle (under engine braking) and seems to be the same noise in 4th or 5th gear. It sounds like a bearing in the transmission to me. CV boots are solid and the axles do not have any measurable radial play. Front engine mount is solid and not oily. I will replace the upper torque mount bushes soon, as they are cracked, but not torn through. No leaks, etc. I just did another tranny lube flush and there were no shards at either drain. The magnet had only minor metallic dust accumulated on it. I'll probably disassemble and inspect it when I do a clutch, but that may be another 25kmi or more. I'd rather not have a failure if it is an indicator of a major problem, though.
