Not sure if my experience on the 94cs applies to you. There may have been a design change on the water pump. On MY 94, after removal of the serpertine belt and the two coolant connections, you remove three torx screws to detach the water pump from the engine block. The water pump has two other connections via o-rings. One is to the engine block. The second is to a tubing which winds itself around the engine block to supply coolant for the heater matrix.
If you have such a setup, make sure you lubricate the o-rings before fitting up the water pump. Use vaseline. I recommend getting a spare set of o-rings in case you damage them during fit-up. If you have difficulty fitting the water pump to the two connections w/ o-rings or they bind during the installation process, chances are you may have damaged the o-rings. They get damaged easily.
Speaking of heater matrix. I just got back from Aruba on business. I only noticed this trip that the rental car has no heat, only AC. This means the Toyota Yaris (I think it's called Echo in the US.) made for the tropical market are without a heater matrix. Clever! One less device and less chance of mechanical trouble. Not only that, most cars on the island have no airbags.
