'91 9kt. Replaced water pump last month. Three o-rings were supplied: two large and one small. The small one goes on the end of the pipe which curves around from the back of the engine block. The two larger ones go on either end of the short pipe which Gene N refers to. It goes between the front of the engine block and the water pump.

Hard to see this if you didn't pull out the A/C compressor. You can pull the compressor out without touching the coolant connections. Just unscrew the three bolts (13 mm, IIRC) which hold it to its mount. These all face forward. Two bolts are readily visible up top, and the third one is toward the passenger (U.S.) side of the mount, but you should be able to get a wrench on it. You can't back the bolts out completely because the front of the car is in the way, but you'll be able to slide the compressor to the driver's side. You'll notice a nifty rounded depression in the mount which allows the pulley to go through this area. Then spin the thing around and set it on top of a thick rag on the front of the engine bay. If you want to remove the mount at that point, note for reassembly how the O2 sensor wire fits into a clamp under one of the bolts for the compressor mount. When re-installing the compressor, put the bolts into their holes in the compressor first, then slide it into place on the mount. If I'd done this when putting in my new O2 sensor last year, I would have saved myself at least an hour. It's easy.

BTW, a little Vaseline on the o-rings makes them fit nicely.
