Ken,
First, you got ripped-off. You can fix the valves very easily, there's no need to replace them. The base pops off both the T and the L-shaped one-way valves, I inserted a blunt blade into the visible joint and just pushed-off the base. (Be careful of the delicate-looking rubber gasket inside) Inside there's a small, round plastic plunger kept in position by a short spring. This is the valve which is depressed by the incoming water flow and which is forced by the spring back onto its seat when the flow stops, thus preventing the pipes from draining. I found that the original grease in both my valves had solidified to the point where the valves were sticking in place. Take the T and L junctions out, pop-off the bases, clean well, re-grease, re-assemble. Blow through each leg of each valve. The water ENTERS through the leg you CANNOT blow through.
Re-fit the valves and let us know how you do.
