I've redone the stereo in my 94 Aero. I thought at the time that swapping everthing for aftermarket products would produce better sound but it's not that easy. It demonstrated that the stock system is very good for a factory system. Now a year and a lot of money later it has what I would describe as "good" sound, but it still needs a lot of tuning. The challenge with aftermarket is getting mid-bass up front in the 9000.
My recomendation follows Kyles: try adding a sub in the trunk first and see if this floats your boat. There are a number of options in this realm from all-in-one units like an Infinity Basslink which is plug and play to getting a custom enclosure, selecting a driver and a power amplifier. In short, if I was doing it all over again I'd start with a sub rather than replacing everything. It can have a remarkable effect on the musicality of a system.
Enjoy the music,
Bill
