Most people who use this downpipe have a Mitsubishi turbo.
Has anyone looked at the center section of that thing and noticed
the clamps there? If the turbo gets any moment applied at the exhaust end, the center section is the weak point. Those clamps
in the middle will not keep the shaft that connects turbine to compressor spinning in a 'secure' manner. It takes very little
offset for that shaft to break, especially while it's spinning. If
you want to gamble with a thousand dollars, then run with no
bracket securing the DP to the engine. Nothing fancy has to be
done - just weld an "L" shaped bracket before the flex-section -
it's really quite simple! Consider the horizontal section of the
downpipe, before it meets the flex. Take the "L" , rotate it 90º,
and flip it so the long side is pointing towards the engine.
Weld the short leg to the side of the horizontal pipe. The long
leg has a hole to accept the bolt that attaches it to the bracket.
