Vibration ctnd... long

An update for my earlier posts regarding the strange vibration problems I've had....
I found some references which mentioned that an incorrectly torqued axle nut might cause strange vibrations. A while ago I replaced the left outer CV boot and had to remove the drive shaft. I put some thread locking stuff on the splines as adviced.... but now I'm not sure exactly when I torqued the axle nut... I had the strut lower end off and had to reattach it before doing the big nut. Maybe the thread locking stuff froze before I fully tightened it...
So, last night I cracked the nut open, supported the weight of the wheel under the control arm, forced the CV joint 10mm in and retightened the nut in order to realign/reseat the splines. Took the car for a spin and the level and nature of the vibration changed dramatically !
I'll re-disassemble the hub/CV joint during the week, clean the splines properly and the assemble with more care.
Keep the fingers crossed that it'll work..... smile
