I don't know the actual core dimensions, but it's about an inch
thick (~25 mm). I replaced mine with one that's double the
thickness - it fits, but is very tight against both the radiator
and the condenser. The easiest upgrade is to buy one that
will bolt right-up in the stock position. AFAIK, there's only two
aftermarket suppliers: Abbott (UK) and Kylar Jonson (Sweden).
You could go with a core from HKS or Spearco, but I'd bet that
once you start figuring the costs of end-tanks and the labor involved,
you'd probably spend more than if you just went out a bought one
that will bolt right-in. The KJ, being all aluminum, weighs a bit
more than the stock unit. However, being twice the thickness of
the stock unit, I'm sure the pressure drop through the exchanger
isn't as great. And the charge air is probably a little cooler, too.
The KJ is sold by Engstrom in the 'states, and by Speedparts
and others in Sweden.
