Hi,
It sounds like the boost is a little too high. While everyone on this board seems to love the maximum boost, they also seem to enjoy fixing these 10-14 year old engines and trannies. Something tells me that you are not about that..
...in order to turn down the boost you would want adjust the wastegate. The wastegate is on the Turbo, it looks like a metal dendilion. If you notice that above the rad there is a yellow cylinder with 3 hoses. One Of those hoses lead benind the turbo (Middle one) follow it with you hand with the engine COLD!!!!. (if not cold you will burn you hand off)
So now that you know where the wastegate is, you'd want to adjust it. do so by taking it off and lengthening the rod. To take it off you have to get under the car and unbolt the 2 12mm (I think) bolts that hold it and take of the pin. Once off you will see that the rod is adjustable by a nut on the rod. I recommend a full+ turn to lengthen it. Install it back and hook up the pin and the hose from the yellow cylinder.
Hope this helps,
Roman

PS. You can always ask a mechanic with a lift to do this. I would not pay more that 50 bucks for the labor. (Its about an hour)
