Paul,

I'm in a similar situation, but I've found a '98 CSE. It has the Aero suspension and 16" rims, but it has the 200 hp engine with auto trans.
What I have found in doing research into the service backgrounds of previous vehicles is that some were taken to the dealer every 5000 miles for scheduled maint. or oil changes, etc. Conversely, some went to the dealer for the free 5000 mile checkup and only returned for major repairs. You may be aware of this, but you can call Saab directly (http://www.saabusa.com for phone #) and give them the VIN# and they will tell you where it was sold and from there you can get original warranty svc report and svc history, if they were the svcing dealer. Or ask the current owner/dealer where it was svcd. The operator svc manual often has the dealer stamp in it.

Others here on the BB say to be very wary of pre-owned Aeros as they can be abused by turbo junkie owners, so the above becomes more important.

So, if you must have the Aero seats and the power is an issue then be sure you are comfortable with the previous owners care standards. And go with the Aero.

I personally like the Aero seats, but I've had a '93 CSE and those seats were very comfortable and were very capable of holding me in place around tight corners at speed. In this case the CSE may have been cared for and driven less hard over fewer miles and may be a safer bet for the future.

If you'd like any further info on uncovering svc history, I've not had any brick walls hold me back from finding any car's history, so far. I'd be happy to help you out, if history is that important to you. Remember some cars have had two owners by now and it gets complex.

Todd
