about two months ago 10 miles away from home, the symptom on my 94cs was the same as what you described. After the car was towed home and placed on the driveway, I could see the release bearing pushing the clutch through the window on the bell housing. But with the engine running it just won't get into any gear.
It turned out, after pulling the engine, the springs in the clutch disc broke. The broken springs got jammed between the clutch fingers, making shifting impossible.
Time to take the tranny off the engine.
