Advice for equipping new garage/workshop

Over the last few months I have been building a 20 x 36 garage which will be used to store my wife's 92 900T cvt in the winter and to work on our 88 and 95 9000's all year round. I'm really excited about this because it sure beats working outside on a dirt driveway in the dark and freezing cold!
I have finally finished the structural work and now am about to start on the electrical wiring and fitting it out internally with workbenches, shelves etc. The building is long and narrow and the intention is to use the rear half as workshop space and the front half for garaging cars.
So before I start on the inside stuff I was wondering if anybody has any words of wisdom in terms of the best way of setting this all up? I am particularly curious about how much lighting I will need to be able to work on my cars with a minimum of additional task lights.
No room for a lift unfortunately - maybe next time :-)
