tranny sticks in gear after hard acceleration run

Lately, my tranny will stick in gear after going through the gears aggressively. I cannot get stick shift to move out of the 3rd or 4th gear position without REALLY reefing/wiggling/coaxing it. Tranny linkage will slowly "loosen up" allowing me to shift pretty normally, once I coax it out of the stuck-in-gear position. Clutch is fine during these episodes--as it will engagedisengage fine and allow free-revving while in the stuck-in-gear position. Whether the clutch is engaged or not seems to have no bearing on shifter sticking.
It feels like linkage, though visual inspect of the rubber coupling shows no crazy amount of free-play.
Top motor mounts are new and the one motor mount which is visible under hood seems fine.
Any ideas?
