6 weeks isn't a terribly long time. But there's stuff it would be nice to do.
Fill the tank with gas. A full tank is the best defense against moisture. If you really want, drop in a bottle of fuel stabilizer. For 6 weeks, it really shouldn't be necessary, but it wouldn't hurt. The full tank gets you about 90% of the way there.
If you're anywhere near the oil change interval, change the oil. Old oil contains moisture and acids. Again, 6 weeks isn't that long, but a sump of fresh oil is better than a sump of 5K mile old oil.
Check those tire pressures. You don't need (or want) to overinflate, but make sure the cold pressure is where you want it. If a tire has been acting funny and losing pressure, get the slow leak fixed. You don't want to come back to a rim resting on the tread.
Disconnecting the battery isn't a bad idea. Disconnected or not, a battery will lose about 50% of its capacity in 6 weeks- that's just normal. It's the abnormal discharge you want to avoid. Check the charge level in the battery with a specific gravity gauge. Make sure the electrolyte level in each cell is correct. Put a really good charge on it. Clean the outside of the battery, especially around the terminals. I use water with some baking soda in it. Most batteries outgas some, and that acid combines with dust and dirt to form a conductive layer on the outside of the battery. This thin film can discharge a battery faster than the load from the radio and dome light. Clean the battery. Disconnect it if you want. Be prepared to throw a charger on it when you get back before you start it.
6 weeks isn't that long. I've had cars sit that long normally with no ill effects, although I usually want to put a charge on the battery every 2-3 weeks.
